Renaming a file is pretty simple considering the fact that all you need to do is to click on a file and select rename, or select the file and press F2. This method is simple enough for one file. But what should be done in case we need to rename multiple files, consider hundreds or even thousands? That’s where AF5 comes in.
This tool helps to rename multiple files based on the user queries. Just select the files that need to be renamed and drag them from the Windows Explorer to the AF5 window. The application assists in changing the prefix or suffix of the filenames, replacing a string in the filenames, cutting characters from filenames, converting to upper case or lower case, custom set filenames etc. In addition a separate counter can be added to the files like (img1.jpg, img2.jpg, img3.jpg…). A file attribute can also be added to filenames. The main feature is importing the names of the files into a text file for later usage.
There are other functions as well: inserting strings, extracting strings, replacing strings, inserting counters, inserting attributes, importing filenames. The application also has an online help and inbuilt examples of what the software is capable of.
